I was advised of this very nice article about A. L. Humphrey, a Texan who was part of Co. D of the 192nd and survived the Battle of Bataan, the Death March, POW camps, the Hell Ships and slave labor in Japan. Nice photographs as well as personal memories.
Pvt. A. L. Humphrey passed to his eternal reward on May 2, 2001.
I was Miss Bataan in 1962 or 63…..and it was an honor
We’ve got photos from 1962 on the site. Is that you?

I am co-authoring a book on the Provisional Tank Group in World War II, of which the Maywood Tank Company was a prominent component. My co-author is Tony Meldahl, whose name you may know. His health is poor, and he has had to drop out as an active contributor, but I am pressing on alone. The telling of this story is long overdue. I recently stumbled on your website — which is outstanding, by the way — and am working thru the back issues. I have biographies of most of the men, but need information on the home front — Maywood before and during the war. Any assistance — newspaper clippings, unpublished memoirs, letters, etc. — would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to pass on my e-mail address as you see fit.
