We have received the sad news that our Vice President, Major Edwin H. Walker IV, passed away peacefully yesterday at Hines hospital in Maywood, Illinois. Edwin has led the Maywood Bataan Day Organization for several decades, serving in many executive capacities. However, he will be most remembered for his behind the scenes work to ensure that the Annual Maywood Bataan Day events on the second Sunday in September each year were held without fail, and with all the appropriate pomp, circumstance and respect they deserve. Through his efforts, Maywood Bataan Day became one of the last regularly held memorial services for the heroes of WWII and especially those who fought and died on the Bataan Peninsula in the Phillipines.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Edwin and those who loved him at this time. May he Rest In Peace.
