(L to R) MBDO Director Brotonel, Director Huntington, VP Walker, Secretary Galarza welcome Jim Opolony as a Director (seated).

By acclimation, the Maywood Bataan Day Board of Directors was happy to appoint long-time MBDO friend, Jim Opolony to the board at the February 2016 Board meeting. Most of those familiar with the story of Maywood Bataan Day are also familiar with Jim Opolony, a tireless crusader in the fight to preserve and immortalize the stories and heritage of the 192nd Tank Battalion.

Jim was part of the team that created the Proviso East Bataan Commemorative Project and the resulting website — http://BataanProject.com. Today, Jim continues to manage the website and works daily to create a complete history of not only the 192nd Tank Battalion, but also the 194th Tank Battalion and the 17th Ordnance Company. And in his spare time, he has been collecting the stories of all of the Proviso East Veterans who served in WWII.

Jim is a teacher at Proviso East High School.

The MBDO Board is proud to add Jim as a Director, and as we enter this momentous phase of the Maywood Bataan Day Organization, we ask all of our supporters worldwide to join us in congratulating Jim on this appointment.
