Editors Note: This year, we will be making a special effort to remember each and every known member of the 192nd Tank Battalion. As part of that remembrance, we will list each day the members who were killed or died on that date, along with links for additional information as available. We look forward to your comments.

1st Lt. George A. Van Arsdall (HQ)
1st Lt. George A. Van Arsdall survived the battle of Bataan, and the Death March, where he was used as a human shield by his captors. He survived the box cars, the POW camps, and even was part of the “death detail”. He was one of the few survivors of the disastrous hell ship Oryoku Maru. He did not survive the sinking of the second hell ship he was taken onboard, the Enoura Maru. He was buried as an “unknown” at Pearl Harbor and is enshrined on the Tablets of the Missing in the Manila American Cemetery.
