A special thank you to the Descendants Group of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor (http://dg-adbc.org/) for bringing this article to the attention of the people who hold the memory of the men and women who defended Bataan dear. This well-researched article covers not only the serendipitous discovery of a ring long lost, but also the story behind the ring, and the horrors visited upon Lt. Minter Dial, who became a POW of the Japanese in WWII when the Philippines were surrendered.
